A woman has sparked debate online after recounting how she responded when her husband reportedly suggested that they begin sharing household expenses equally.

According to a post shared on social media, the woman said her husband woke her up around 3 a.m. to inform her that he wanted a 50-50 financial arrangement because he was exhausted from carrying the family’s expenses on his own.

Rather than argue against the proposal, she said she chose to make adjustments to her daily routine.

The woman explained that she normally wakes up by 5 a.m. to prepare breakfast and get the children ready for school before heading to work.

However, the morning after their conversation, she stayed in bed until 7 a.m. before getting ready and leaving for work, leaving the children in her husband’s care.

In recounting the incident, she said:

“My husband woke me up around 3:am one early morning and said he wanted 50-50, that he’s tired of sorting the bills, so he wanted us to start splitting the bills.”
