Popular Nigerian TikTok personality Peller has opened up about how his imperfect English became one of the biggest reasons behind his rapid rise to fame on the social media platform.

Speaking during a recent livestream, the content creator admitted that he initially believed speaking better English would improve his image and attract more people.

Instead, he discovered that it significantly reduced the audience that had made him popular.

Recalling the early days of his TikTok journey, Peller explained that although his English was not professionally polished, it resonated with viewers and drew thousands of people to his livestreams.

He said:

“I hear original oyinbo before, but wetin happen be say na bad English I use start this TikTok thing. Although the English wasn’t professional but it wasn’t bad.”

According to him, he soon realised that standing out online required being entertaining rather than trying to appear perfect.

“I realized that to blow in this life you cannot be dull. You have to be crazy. So because of my bad English people flooded my livestream, 2,000 views, 3,000.”

Peller further revealed that when he deliberately tried to improve his English, his viewership dropped sharply.

“When I dey speak better English, na 5 views I dey get and na my family member dey watch me… But me I like am o, make my English dey bad go, make I sha dey get money.”

His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many social media users finding the confession humorous, while others said authenticity often resonates more with audiences than trying to appear perfect.
