A Nigerian man shared his personal relationship experience on social media, sparking discussions about consent and boundaries in modern dating.
The man shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, about his brief relationship with a 20-year-old woman he dated years ago.
Relationship Ends Over Intimacy Concerns
According to him, the problems started during her visits when they tried to get intimate. He explained that despite engaging in foreplay, she frequently appeared hesitant.
He said he chose to stop each time he sensed hesitation.
“The second time, the same thing happened, and I don’t like stressing myself when it comes to intimacy,” he wrote.
Concerned by the repeated pattern, he said he decided to ask her why she always seemed unwilling.
The young woman allegedly told him that she had been the same way with her ex-boyfriend, who she claimed had deflowered her.
The man also stated that she told him that he needed to put in more effort to get her to “give in.” She also allegedly stated that if she asked him to stop, he should not stop.
Firm Stand on Personal Boundaries
The man said he rejected that suggestion outright.
He stated that he did not want to find himself in a situation where he could later be accused of forcing himself on her.
“I told her straight that I don’t do that,” he wrote.
According to him, the relationship lasted only three months before he decided to end it.
