A man’s old political post and recent appeal for financial assistance have sparked online discussion, highlighting a stark contrast between past confidence and current hardship.
In September 2023, he boldly declared that Bola Tinubu would be Nigeria’s president for the next eight years.
Rent crisis sparks online attention
Nearly three years later, the same man returned to the platform with a completely different message.
He revealed that his family was facing eviction due to a ₦1.5 million rent overdue since November 2025. He requested donations of ₦10,000, ₦50,000, or ₦100,000 and shared his bank account details to address the overwhelming situation.
He reached his financial limit and thanked anyone who could help. He later posted a follow-up message to thank donors for their generosity.
Social media reacts with mockery and debate
The situation drew further attention after a woman reposted screenshots of both posts side by side, openly mocking him.
Laughing at the contrast, she questioned how someone who once projected political certainty now found himself pleading for rent support.
Her reaction triggered mixed responses online. While some users joined in the mockery, others urged restraint, pointing out that economic realities have worsened for many Nigerians and that personal hardship can affect anyone, regardless of past political opinions.
