Victor Boniface, a striker for the Super Eagles, has started his recuperation after a successful knee procedure in Innsbruck, Austria.

After weeks of discussions, the Nigerian international decided to have the surgery, and as a result, he would miss the rest of the 2025–2026 season.

His availability and performance had been hampered by a long-standing problem with his right knee, which was resolved by surgery.

By posting a brief video of himself exercising with a physiotherapist on Snapchat, Boniface verified the next stage of his recuperation.

The forward was seen in the video performing simple leg stretches before using a support device to walk, signifying the beginning of an organised recovery process.

The striker had trouble with form and fitness throughout the 2025–2026 season.

Before the injury forced him to cease playing, Boniface had two assists while on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, although he had failed to score in 11 Bundesliga games.

The footballer sought further opinions before making a final choice earlier this month, despite medical advice initially recommending emergency surgery.

There is currently no defined date for his comeback to competitive football, and the procedure is anticipated to necessitate a prolonged period of rehabilitation.

In order to return stronger before the upcoming season, Boniface will now concentrate on a thorough recuperation. But throughout his career, injuries have been a constant worry.

Since becoming a professional, the striker has sustained two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, so maintaining long-term fitness will be crucial.
