Verydarkman calls for nationwide school boycott in solidarity with kidnapped oyo teachers and pupils

Verydarkman, a social media activist and content creator, has urged teachers and parents across Nigeria to take collective action in response to the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.

In an internet video, Verydarkman criticised Nigerians’ tendency to rapidly move on from big national crises, claiming that the population frequently fails to maintain pressure on authorities following catastrophic situations.

He insisted that the public keep focused on the matter until those allegedly being held captive are securely released.

As a gesture of solidarity, he urged public school teachers to boycott work beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, and continuing until the abducted teachers and students are released.

He also urged parents to keep their children at home, claiming that doing so would show sympathy for the afflicted families while also drawing attention to the situation of those in captivity.

According to the activist, such collective action would send a clear statement that Nigerians support the victims and their loved ones amid the ongoing crisis.

“Nigerians are curs£d with one thing, they think it’s a blessing cut it’s a curs£, they know how to move on quickly. However, on this issue on ground (Oyo State k!dnapp£d students and teachers), we are not going to move on until they are released. As a public school teacher, this is a time to show solidarity with the teachers in capt!v!ty by not going to work, starting from tomorrow, Monday 1st of June 2026, until those in capt!vity are released. Please, parents, stop your children from going to school in solidarity with the little kids that are in capt!v!ty”
