VDM Reacts as Ahoada Militants Ask Burna Boy, Soso Berekon to Help Secure Government Amnesty

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted to a video showing armed militants in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State appealing to Burna Boy and entertainment executive Soso Berekon to help them secure amnesty from the government.

In the video, the group called on Burna Boy to intervene on their behalf, saying they were prepared to lay down their arms under agreed terms and conditions.

A report identified the group as the Ekpeye Freedom Fighters and said they appealed to both the Federal and Rivers State Governments for amnesty and reintegration into society. The group also praised Burna Boy and Soso Berekon for empowerment, scholarship and infrastructure initiatives in Ahoada West.

Reacting to the video, VeryDarkMan said he had woken up to the development and described the reported willingness of militants to surrender their weapons following the intervention of public figures as an unprecedented development in Nigeria.

“Woke up to this video where Arm3d militants in ahoada west LGA of rivers state were calling on BURNABOY @burnaboygram to help them speak with the government to grant them amnesty and in exchange they are ready to lay down their arms with whatever terms and conditions Burnaboy and SOSO @sososoberekon decides….i will say this has never been seen before in Nigeria where militants are willing to lay down arms on terms of a public figure….(WE ARE WITNESSING HISTORY IN THE MAKING)”

Burna Boy has previously been linked to development efforts in Ahoada West. In March 2026, the singer and his father visited former Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with reports linking the visit to projects planned for the area.
