President Donald Trump of the United States has informed reporters that discussions between the US and Iran are focused on 15 key points.

He said that those 15 key points aims at concluding the conflict, with Tehran’s relinquishment of nuclear weapons being prioritized as points “one, two, and three”.

Trump stated that if an agreement is achieved, the US would proceed to seize Iran’s enriched uranium, which is vital to its contentious nuclear program.

Iran has consistently rejected such requests in the past, asserting its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

On February 28, the US and Israel initiated their military actions against Iran – actions widely regarded as illegal – during the negotiation process, prompting doubts about whether Washington was genuinely committed to reaching an agreement with Tehran regarding its nuclear program.

The US aims to prevent Iran, which operates four declared enrichment facilities, from developing nuclear weapons.

As reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN’s nuclear oversight body, Iran possesses a stockpile of 440.9 kilograms (972 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60% purity – a mere step away from the weapons-grade threshold of 90%.

This stockpile could potentially enable Iran to construct up to 10 nuclear bombs, should it choose to militarize its program, as noted by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who also emphasized that this does not imply that Iran currently possesses such a weapon.

Trump emphasized that the termination of Iran’s nuclear program is essential for any agreement and asserted that Iran had consented to this condition.

“We are very open to negotiating a deal. It must be a favorable agreement, ensuring no further wars and no nuclear weapons,” he said.

“They will not possess nuclear weapons any longer. They are in agreement on that. If any of these conditions are unmet, there will be no deal,” the US leader added.

He proposed that the US could intervene to retrieve nuclear materials from Iran if an agreement is established.

The US president also remarked that one could interpret Iran as already experiencing a regime change, given that the US-Israeli strikes have targeted and eliminated numerous high-ranking Iranian officials.

In the absence of a deal, he stated, “we will simply continue our bombing campaign with fervor.”
