A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom is reportedly prepared to return home after her visa was revoked, following a fruitless job search.
The young content creator, who has been documenting her japa journey online, applied for almost 3,000 jobs and received only 24 interviews, none of which resulted in employment or visa sponsorship.
Exhaustive employment search produces no results.
In a phone call to her parents, she apparently expressed the seriousness of her predicament. My visa has been cancelled. I have a few weeks left in the UK. If I don’t find a job that will give me visa sponsorship, that’s it,” she said.
Her father’s remark, however, provided some solace. He told her in a calm and soothing tone.“I can never reject my own. If they cancel it, come back to me. We are here.” His words underline the crucial role of family support during challenging moments abroad.
While returning home is now an option, the experience and lessons learnt abroad could pave the way for future success.
