UCL: Osimhen to play without fans in Liverpool return leg after UEFA ban

Galatasaray will travel to Anfield without their supporters for their upcoming Champions League match against Liverpool, as UEFA issued punishment for crowd disorder.

The European football governing body declared that Galatasaray fans will be barred from attending the away match on March 18 due to disruptions during the previous round against Juventus in Turin.

During the February 25 confrontation, supporters were caught throwing things and setting off fireworks.

Despite losing 3-2 on the night in Italy, Galatasaray advanced 7-5 on aggregate to the next round.

However, UEFA concluded that the Turkish champions could not sell tickets to away fans for the Liverpool game and imposed a €40,000 fine.

The decision means that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen and his colleagues will be without travelling fan support at Anfield on what is supposed to be a high-energy European night.

Galatasaray announced in an official statement that they intend to fight the ruling. The club regarded the sentence as disproportionate and stated that an appeal is already underway.

The first leg will be played in Istanbul next Tuesday, followed by the pivotal return match at Anfield.
