According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Saturday, June 6, 2026, the US military has acknowledged that it attacked specific Iranian radar sites in retaliation for what it said was drone activity in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

American soldiers claimed on Saturday through the social media platform X that they shot down four assault drones that were headed into the Strait of Hormuz, an important shipping route for crude oil exports worldwide. This announcement came from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

U.S. forces operating in the area swiftly responded defensively in reaction to the drones, which CENTCOM deemed a “immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.”

In addition, the United States military said that it targeted Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites that it thought were involved in drone activity coordination or support with precise attacks after the drones were intercepted.

Goruk and Qeshm Island, both in the Persian Gulf off the southern coast of Iran, were allegedly the sites of the targeted installations.

The statement defended the action, saying it was essential to safeguard international shipping channels and commercial and military ships using a vital maritime corridor.

Washington and Tehran have been attempting to defuse tensions diplomatically, but the recent escalation shows no signs of abating.

Pakistan reportedly mediated a ceasefire agreement on April 8, putting an official end to hostilities between the warring parties.

But there have been reports of strikes between the two nations many times since the accord was announced, so nobody knows how long the truce will last.

The battle has shifted its focus back to the Strait of Hormuz, where Iranian forces are allegedly stepping up their military presence and continuing to exert pressure on ships using the tight passage.
