According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 36%, the lowest level since he took office, as growing worries about the war with Iran and rising fuel prices affect public opinion.
The survey revealed a significant decline from 40% the week before, indicating growing discontent among Americans regarding the economy and cost of living. Trump’s handling of living expenses, a crucial issue during his 2024 campaign, was only endorsed by 25% of respondents.
Additionally, approval of his economic performance fell to 29%, the lowest level in both of his administrations and lower than that of Joe Biden, his predecessor.
Public sentiment toward the ongoing conflict has also weakened. About 35% of Americans said they support U.S. strikes on Iran, down from 37% the previous week, while 61% expressed disapproval.
Despite the overall decline, Trump continues to maintain strong backing within his Republican base, although concerns about the rising cost of living are beginning to grow even among party supporters.
The poll further revealed that 46% of respondents believe the war with Iran will make the United States less safe in the long run, compared to 26% who think it will improve national security.
The findings highlight mounting pressure on the administration as economic challenges and geopolitical tensions continue to shape public perception.
