Blaming the All Progressives Congress for Nigeria’s present problems, Seriake Dickson has demanded that the party be eliminated in the general elections of 2027.
The senator from Bayelsa West claimed that the nation has declined under APC rule in an interview with Politics Today on Channels Television. “They came together to remove the PDP and President Jonathan, and look at where we are,” Dickson stated.
He criticized the party’s founding and goals, claiming that it lacked a clear plan for governance beyond seizing power in 2015. “No one asks, ‘What are you gathering for when you win power?'” he claims. “Change,” they said.
He added that the promised change has had negative consequences, stating: “Change can be both ways… you can change from bad to worse, as the APC has done.” Dickson accused the ruling party of failing across key areas, including corruption, insecurity, the economy, and democratic governance.
He said: “Whether it is insecurity… whether it is on the economy… whether it is on fighting corruption… the APC…” has not delivered on expectations. The former governor also criticised the scale of alleged financial mismanagement, saying: “People talk now, calculate monies now in trillions, monies they probably don’t even need.”
The APC came to power in 2015 on promises to tackle corruption, improve the economy, and address insecurity, but critics, including Dickson, argue that conditions have worsened since then.
