Transfer: PSG dismiss Chelsea interest in Super Falcons Echegini

Chelsea has made an approach for Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini, but Paris Saint-Germain has rejected it, saying that the Nigerian international is essential to the club’s long-term plans.

According to reports, Chelsea inquired about the 24-year-old in an effort to strengthen their midfield options, but PSG refused to negotiate.

At this point in the project, the French champions believe Echegini is a non-transferable asset.

According to Le Parisien journalist Benjamin Suarez, PSG regards Echegini as “untouchable” and a key element in their sporting strategy, effectively ruling out any potential transfer.

Echegini joined PSG from Juventus in June 2024 and has immediately established herself as a key player in midfield.

Her current deal expires in June 2027, putting the French club in a strong position among external interest.

PSG’s rejection to entertain Chelsea’s approach is consistent with their overall goal of retaining squad stability, particularly in the women’s team, where consistency and progress are top goals.

The club believes Echegini’s prominence and performances justify her position as a key member of the squad.

The Nigerian international is now ranked as Africa’s fifth most valued female footballer, reflecting her growing reputation at both the club and international levels.

She scored the winning goal for Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, against hosts Morocco and the Atlas Lionesses.
