“Tinubu is our in-law, it’ll be evi! to vote against him” — Delta State Governor Oborevwori

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has sparked political discussion after stating that it would be “evil” for Deltans to vote against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the governor argued that the president shares a unique connection with Delta State through First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, which he believes should attract support from the state’s electorate.

According to Oborevwori, Tinubu’s relationship with Delta State extends beyond politics and includes cultural and family ties.

He described the president as an in-law to the people of the state, saying that many residents of the South-South region now view him as one of their own.

The governor further suggested that political attitudes in the region have evolved, arguing that voters are now more politically conscious and less likely to repeat what he described as mistakes made in the past due to misplaced trust.

His remarks have since generated debate among political observers and social media users, with supporters and critics offering differing views on whether family or regional ties should influence electoral decisions.

“The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair,” Oborevwori said, adding that many in the South-South now see the president as one of their own.
