Izzy Curious, a content producer, has sparked outrage online after criticising recognised Nigerian leaders Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Wole Soyinka for their alleged silence on the country’s current status under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amidst mounting insecurity.
According to him, both men were more vociferous during previous President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, but have since gone mute in the face of the country’s deteriorating conditions.
Read what she said below;
“You see these two men, these so-called highly respected elders, Pastor Adeboye and Wole Soyinka… These men had voices so loud when things were not this bad during Goodluck Jonathan’s era.”
Izzy Curious also stated that their quiet under the current regime disappoints many young Nigerians who earlier looked up to them as strong voices on national problems.
He also claimed that personal gain and political interests may be the reason why some powerful persons no longer talk openly about governance and hardships in the country.
“Now they find it convenient to keep quiet when things are horribly bad under Tinubu’s regime. Because of what is entering their pockets,” he added.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his criticism while others defended the respected figures.
One user wrote, “People always become silent when their preferred candidate enters power.” Another wrote, “Wole Soyinka has always spoken when necessary, people should stop dragging him unnecessarily.”
