A Nigerian man has generated fury online by criticising the government over the burial of deceased army officer Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, who was killed in a Boko Haram attack.
According to him, the brigadier general was buried on April 18, 2026, but neither President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nor Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the service.
“Remember the army general that was ambushed and killed in the North? He was laid to rest on the 18th of April 2026, and guess what? The President and the Vice President, none of them attended,” he said.
He likened the scenario to that of other countries, stating that deceased warriors are typically honoured with high-level respect and the presence of leaders.
The individual also said that while the general was buried in Maiduguri, prominent government officials were attending a wedding event in the same state.
“In that same city, Maiduguri, the governor’s daughter was getting married. The Vice President attended. Ministers attended. But a general who died in active service, they did not go. They left his corpse to his fellow soldiers and buried him like a chicken,” he added.
He also blasted the government’s handling of insecurity, claiming that while victims remain in custody, efforts are on to reintegrate repentant terrorists into society.
The passionate outburst has fuelled online discussions about insecurity, government, and how fallen heroes are remembered in Nigeria.
