A 19-year-old teenager, Panashe Muchenje, has d!ed after dr0wning in a lake in Nottinghamshire while spending time with friends.
Panashe, who lived in Nottingham, was visiting Balderton Lake near Newark with two friends on May 28 during the recent heatwave in the United Kingdom when the incident occurred.
Footage reportedly captured the teenager entering the water before encountering difficulties. The video later circulated widely on social media and was shared by several Zimbabwean news platforms.
His family has appealed to the public to stop sharing the footage and urged major social media companies to remove the video. They also called on people to avoid speculation about the circumstances surrounding his d3ath, saying such comments have added to their grief.
Police have confirmed that the d3ath is not being treated as suspicious.
Reports indicate that Panashe was in the water for approximately 22 minutes before being pulled out and treated by paramedics at the scene. He was subsequently taken to hospital, where he later d!ed.
Reacting to the circulation of the footage online, Johno Lee said he was shocked and deeply concerned that videos related to the tragic incident were being shared across social media platforms.
