Supreme court affirms 12-year jail term for man who r@ped his 15-year-old house help in Abuja

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the 12-year prison sentence handed to Dauda Sani Haladu for r@ping his 15-year-old domestic worker in Abuja.

The development was disclosed by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in a statement issued on Monday, May 11, 2026. The agency described the judgment as a “landmark victory” in the fight against $3xual and gender-based vi0lence in Nigeria.

Haladu was originally convicted and sentenced in 2021 by an FCT High Court presided over by M.A. Nasir.

With the Supreme Court upholding the conviction and sentence, the ruling effectively brings the legal process in the case to a close.
