After encouraging male corps members to quit spending money on female coworkers they like without expressing their thoughts and cautioning that many are silently wasting dollars trying to impress, a NYSC administrator caused a stir online.
During a session at the orientation camp, the official discussed how corps members relate to one another and warned against using food and presents to attract attention.

“You like a female corper, stop buying food all the time. Open your mouth and tell her. Talk! Why are you buying her food?”
She clarified that male corps members should be courageous enough to express their objectives openly and refrain from making needless assumptions rather than engaging in silent spending.
Direct communication, the official continued, helps avoid emotional tension and confusion, particularly when one individual is unclear of their position.
“Just tell her, ‘Hello dear, I like you. Do you like me back?’ Let her tell you yes or no. If she tells you, ‘I’ll think about it,’ today or tomorrow, move on. Leave her alone,” she added.
