On X, then known as Twitter, a guy described a traumatic childhood incident in which he claimed to have been abused at a creche facility owned by the mother of Nigerian artist Simi.
The man claimed in a long and heartfelt article that his mother had registered him at what he called “Simi mum’s creche” when he was just five years old.
He asserted that although the carer seemed compassionate and devout in front of parents, there was a distinct environment behind closed doors. doors.
“Something Didn’t Feel Right.” The post claims that the individual stated that at the time, he lacked the necessary words to describe what he had gone through. But he remembered that “something felt wrong.”
“She was trusted. Simi Smiled in front of parents. Spoke softly. Prayed loudly,” he wrote. “But behind closed doors, that softness disappeared. The room would go quiet in a different way. Heavy. Suffocating.”
He claimed that improper behaviour took place at the creche and that no child should have to go through such things. He stated that the memories had been hidden for years, but he did not elaborate.
The author clarified that he had long questioned his own recollections. He claimed to have persuaded himself that he was “too young to remember clearly” and questioned whether he had misinterpreted what had happened.
“But trauma doesn’t forget, even when you try to,” he added, describing how the experience continued to affect him into adulthood.
He claimed that he made the decision to speak out in order to end what he described as a culture of silence, not out of sympathy.
“Not because I want pity. But because silence protects people like her. And it traps people like us,” he wrote.
A message for anybody who might have gone through similar experiences as kids concluded the piece.
“If you were a child and something felt wrong, it probably was,” he stated. “And if you’re still carrying it in silence you’re not alone anymore.”
Simi and her representatives have not publicly addressed the accusation as of the time of this story.
