A Nigerian woman has gained widespread attention after disclosing how her tailor frequently advised her against getting married to her fiancé. At first, she disregarded the advice, then a startling event changed everything.

The woman claims that the tailor first asked her whether she was sure she wanted to marry the man while collecting measurements for her traditional bridal gown.

Recalling the encounter, she said:

“She stopped and asked me, ‘Are you sure you are going to marry him?’ I told her to face her sewing and stop interfering in things that didn’t concern her.”

The woman claimed that at her initial fitting, the identical question was raised once more.

She ignored it at the moment, but later on, she noticed her fiancé’s controlling behaviour, such as his insistence that she store her money in his account, which she missed since she was preoccupied with getting ready for the wedding.

The pivotal moment, according to her, was when her fiancé allegedly struck her for going to her cousin’s introduction ceremony without first asking his permission.

“That was when everything started making sense. I cancelled the wedding and later asked my tailor how she knew. She said she noticed the way he controlled everything and saw fear in my eyes from the very first day,” she added.

Social media users have responded to the disclosure by thanking the tailor for speaking up and speculating that her perseverance may have rescued the woman from an unhappy marriage.

The woman stated that she has no regrets about her choice and added that “a broken relationship is better than a broken marriage.”
