A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom has sparked social media debate after detailing a financial quarrel with his wife over monthly expenses, despite their current living situation.

According to an anonymous post sent by a relationship expert, the man moved his family to the UK after selling his house and land in Nigeria. He said that he earns £2,000 per month after tax, while his wife, who is on a dependent visa, earns £1,700 after tax.

The guy stated that they had agreed that his wage would cover all home bills, while his wife would pay for a portion of the family’s food expenses and save the remainder of her earnings.

The man said, “as a responsible man, shouldn’t I be giving her money for her upkeep, like for hair and nails, monthly?”

He added that the remark left him speechless because, according to him, “all my salary goes to bills here in the UK, and I don’t even have anything left over to buy beer for myself.”

The writer also claimed to have personally handled his wife’s job applications, prepped her for interviews, and assisted with workplace training after they relocated.

The husband further claimed that he recently denied an opportunity for his wife to obtain a higher-paying civil service job through a friend, fearing that “her behaviour might worsen.”
