A Nigerian lady has recounted how she lent her hostel mate money in 2021, sharing an unexpected discovery that has sparked reactions online.

According to her, she lent her fellow hostelite ₦23,000, which the borrower promised to repay before the end of the month.

The lady, identified as @y3maya on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that her hostel mate packed her belongings and moved to squat in another room.

She, however, informed her hostel mate’s close friends about the situation and was advised to exercise patience.

Eventually, the borrower moved back into the room and cut off all communication with her.

Meanwhile, she was eventually refunded, only to discover that her roommate had borrowed the money to buy an iPhone.

‎”Just to find out from our other roommates that the demon lost her mum when she was 2 years old and the money she collected was to add to her savings because she wanted to buy an iPhone“, She added.
