Following new remarks made by Lola Okoye’s former coworker, the long-running argument concerning Peter and Paul Okoye’s respective contributions to PSquare has resurfaced.

The person named as CDO feels that Peter Okoye’s role to the group’s success has frequently been overlooked, especially in terms of entertainment and performance.

Instead of emphasising their singing prowess, CDO highlighted the choreography, stage shows, and branding that helped PSquare become a household name throughout Africa.

Psquare’s success, according to CDO, was based on more than just the brothers’ musical prowess.

He claimed that Peter’s performance abilities and ideas contributed to the group’s eventual image.

“Peter has more talent than Paul.The only thing is that Paul’s talent is the singing talent. I’ve been in showbiz. I’m still in showbiz. There’s nothing like a man who’s got the showmanship, the stage presence. Peter has it, both stage, both ideas, execution, branding. The brand P-Square is Peter,” he said.

He went on to say that Psquare’s visual presentation and upbeat dance routines contributed more to their success than their vocal performances.

“That whole jacket, decked up dancing, is that not what made P-Square? P-Square won’t sing better than Styl-Plus. P-Square no fit sing better than Styl-Plus now,” he said.

He claims that Peter participated in the rigorous preparation that went into the duo’s performances.

He said that while the group was headquartered in Lagos, Peter scheduled choreography workshops on a daily basis and spent hours practicing with them.

“Peter had the idea, the rehearsals, the organization. Peter was dancing every day now. Peter they do rehearsal every day when they dey for Molade. I know the house for Molade now. As long as they are in Nigeria, as long as they are in Lagos, three to six hours every day Peter they do choreography with them people,” CDO said.

CDO also mentioned the brothers’ individual careers, asserting that Peter’s business performance improved following Psquare’s dissolution.

“When they broke up was Peter not more successful? Peter was more successful. Go and check records. Peter made more money than Paul as an individual,” he said.

The comments have given the controversy surrounding PSquare’s legacy—whose songs, live performances, and final breakup continue to spark discussions among Nigerian music enthusiasts—a new dimension.
