Rick Ross arrested on battery charges following ex-girlfriend’s allegations

American rapper Rick Ross was detained on battery charges after Jazzma Kendrick, his ex-girlfriend, accused him of physical abuse.

Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, turned himself in to Miami-Dade County police on August 28, 2026, after Kendrick reported an alleged incident at their shared home, according to court documents and reports from American media outlets.

According to what Kendrick told police, Ross confronted her over a picture she posted on social media and accused her of lying about having an affair.

She claimed the rapper repeatedly hit her in the chest, slapped her in the face, and choked her until she had trouble breathing. She also claimed that he had slammed her against a wall after grabbing her by the ponytail.

According to reports, Kendrick gave police pictures of the injuries she said were caused by the alleged incident.

Ross was detained on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and felony battery by strangulation, both of which are related to domestic abuse. He is being held on a combined $6,000 bond after entering a not guilty plea to the charges. October 22 is the date of his arraignment.

Ross was falsely accused, according to his attorneys, Bradley Horenstein and Steve Sadow, who have refuted the accusations.

Additionally, they cited Kendrick’s complaint’s timing, pointing out that she allegedly called the police a month after the purported incident. As the case moves through the legal system, the attorneys asked the public not to pass judgment on Ross.

Days after Kendrick publicly announced her breakup with Ross and accused him of domestic abuse in an online post, she was arrested.
