“Rev. Fathers, Bishops, Pastors, make una go learn work” — Woman laments heavy church contributions

A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions online after a video of her passionately criticising church leaders over financial demands went viral on social media.

In the trending clip, the visibly emotional woman appealed to religious leaders to acquire vocational skills rather than depending heavily on financial contributions from church members.

She said: “Na beg I dey beg, Reverend Fathers, Bishops, Pastors, make una go learn work, my knees are on the ground, make una go learn work.

Na beg I dey beg, make una go learn work oooh. We don tire. Church contribution, cathedral this, cathedral that, make una go learn work.”

Speaking in Pidgin English, she expressed frustration over what she described as the constant financial pressure placed on congregants through offerings, donations, and other church-related payments.

The woman also criticised what she perceived as extravagant lifestyles among some church leaders, arguing that certain spending habits appear excessive and far removed from the realities faced by ordinary worshippers.

“You no say una don dey spend money too much pass normal man. All this church leaders, na him make women them dey rush come una side.”

The woman went on to suggest that pastors and other clerics should consider learning trades or opening businesses to support themselves financially.

“Make una try learn work even if tailor, vulcanizer, anything, importer, exporter, make una go learn work. Open shop make una dey from una shop spend money, we don tire.”

Mixed Reactions Trail Viral Clip
The video has since generated heated discussions across social media platforms, with many users sharing differing opinions on the issue.

Some supported her stance, arguing that churches should focus more on community support rather than constant fundraising.
