President Trump warns Colombia could bethe next country to face a military operation

US President Donald Trump clarified that the US was “in charge” of Venezuela following the overthrow of Nicolás Maduro while cautioning that Colombia might be the next nation to experience a military operation.

After threatening to “watch his a**,” President Trump declared on Sunday while flying on Air Force One that Gustavo Petro, the leftist president of Colombia, was a “sick man” who “likes making cocaine.”‘

Following Petro’s description of Washington’s attack on Venezuela as a “a$$ault on the sovereignty” of Latin America, Trump launched attacks on the Colombian leader.

He declared, “Colombia is also very sick, run by a sick man who likes to make cocaine and sell it to the United States, and he’s not going to be doing it very long.”

Trump bluntly said, “It sounds good to me,” when asked if the US would pursue a military operation against the nation.’

Trump’s remarks coincided with Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, scheduled to appear in federal court in Manhattan for the first time on Monday following his capture by US forces.

Trump’s comments came as Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was due to make his first appearance in Manhattan’s federal court Monday after he was captured by US forces.

‘We prioritize moving towards balanced and respectful international relations between the United States and Venezuela,’ Rodriguez said.

‘President Donald Trump, our peoples and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war. This has always been President Nicolás Maduro’s message, and it is the message of all of Venezuela right now.’
