The Ekiti State Police Command has detained four Pakistani nationals following reports of their suspicious presence in Iyin-Ekiti, located in the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to reports, the arrests were made after residents raised concerns about unfamiliar individuals in the community, creating tension among locals. A distress call was reportedly received by the Iyin-Ekiti Police Division on June 9, prompting officers to respond immediately.

The four men were identified as Muhammad Yusuf, 47; Ghani Abdul, 36; Abdul Jabbar, 46; and Yusuf Muhammad, 47.

According to police sources, the suspects told investigators they had travelled to Nigeria to sell mobile phones and engage in sightseeing activities. However, authorities reportedly said the men were unable to provide satisfactory explanations or documentation regarding their activities and presence in the community at the time of their arrest.

The four individuals remain in custody while security agencies continue investigations to verify their identities, establish the circumstances surrounding their presence in the area, and determine whether any laws were violated.

Police authorities have urged residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities. They also reassured the public that measures are being taken to maintain safety and security across the state.
