Mariam Alagbede, a resident of Idiape village in Ogidi Area, Ilorin, has appeared before the Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, pleading with the court to assist her in persuading her husband, Muhammad Bashir, to reconsider divorcing her.

Mariam declared, “I don’t want divorce,” indicating that she was still interested in getting married. Please, sir, assist me in pleading with him to pardon me for whatever transgression I may have committed.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the husband previously informed the court that he had married his wife three years prior, but that he was now fed up with their union because of his wife’s lack of affection and her refusal to submit.

Toyin Aluko, the presiding judge, suggested that the wife look into ways to resolve the miscommunications between the two families.

The court adjourned the case.
