Singer Peter Okoye has opened up about his decision to publicly address the circumstances surrounding the eventual breakup of the iconic music group, P-Square.

In an interview with Capital XTRA, the singer explained that he had deliberately remained quiet for some time, hoping that the people involved would eventually reflect on what happened, admit their mistakes and allow things to change.

According to Peter, instead of the situation improving, the issues surrounding the group continued to escalate. He therefore reached a point where he felt compelled to present his own account of events.

“These guys have been speaking. Now it’s time to speak my own truth,” he said.

Peter clarified that his decision to speak out was not an attempt to win public sympathy or influence people’s opinions about the dispute.

Rather, he said his motivation came from his belief that supporters of P-Square deserved to understand what led to the group’s collapse and hear his perspective on the events.

“Not that I wanted the public opinion. I don’t want the public opinion. But just that I feel like the fans of P-Square need justice for what happened to their P-Square,” he said.

The singer’s comments come as he continues to provide his perspective on the long-running disagreements that eventually brought an end to P-Square’s partnership.
