A man generated debate by comparing prison conditions in the United Kingdom, the United States, and other industrialised countries to those in Nigeria.

When asked about the recent release of Nigerian dancer and musician Poco Lee from a UK prison, he stated that some people questioned if Poco Lee had actually been incarcerated because he did not appear physically damaged by his stint in prison.Geographic

According to him, prison circumstances in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada differ greatly from those in Nigeria, with inmates having access to basic facilities such as electricity, water, food, and medical care.

He asserted that many Nigerians who are not incarcerated would prefer the conditions in a UK prison to their present living circumstances, claiming to have visited both Nigerian and UK prisons.

He added that prison guards are trained to respect the rights of convicts and that prisoners in affluent nations have legal protections.

“When Poco Lee was released from UK prison, a lot of people were saying that, oh, he never went to prison, that he doesn’t look it. One thing you need to understand is that people that are in the prison in US, UK, Canada, and all these first-world countries, they’re living better life than 90% of persons that are free in Nigeria.

“They have access to electricity, water, good food, proper medical care. I’ve been to UK prison and Nigerian prison. I can tell you a lot of you walking around in Nigeria would rather be in UK prison.
