Elijah Oro, a Delta State-born pastor, was arrested in Bayelsa State for reportedly conspiring to kill a rival pastor over church membership and property conflicts.
Following solid intelligence, agents from the Bayelsa State Police Command’s SWOT squad arrested the suspect.
According to police, Pastor Oro hired Samuel Daniel, a 21-year-old member of the renowned Greenlanders cult, to carry out the alleged attack.
The conspiracy was halted before any harm could be done, and both suspects are now under police investigation.
In a statement, DSP Musa Mohammed, the police public relations officer, read what he said below:
“On 28th January 2026, at about 10:35 am, SWAT operatives arrested Samuel Daniel, 21, of Nembe Ogbolomabiri Community, and Pastor Elijah Oro, 59, of Ozoro Community, Delta State, in connection with an alleged plot to kill a prophet.”
DSP Mohammed claimed that Daniel was detained at the rival pastor’s home and admitted to being a Greenlanders cult member. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact motive for the alleged attack.
