In their first league match of the season at Rams Park on Friday nite, Galatasaray was held to a 2-2 draw by recently promoted Corum thanks to two goals from Victor Osimhen.
Shortly after halftime, the Nigerian international gave the home team the lead by converting a cross from former Arsenal player Lucas Torreira.
However, Corum rallied with two goals to put the visitors ahead in Istanbul, and Galatasaray was unable to hold onto their lead.
Galatasaray suffered an upset loss on the first nite when Alexandros Kyziridis tied the score for Corum and Jesus Andres Ramirez Diaz completed the comeback.
Then, in the ninetieth minute, Osimhen stepped in to keep the Turkish champions from losing to begin their championship defence.
After rising above the Corum defence to meet a corner from Gabriel Sara, a Brazilian midfielder, the striker headed a strong header beyond the custodian.
Osimhen’s brace was completed by the late equaliser, which guarantyd Galatasaray at least a point in a match they were predicted to win.
Osimhen’s significance to Galatasaray was highlighted by the performance, but his future is still up in the air because the summer transfer market is still open.
Numerous teams, notably Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal and Premier League team Arsenal, have reportedly expressed interest in the Nigerian.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli in 2024 following a fruitful loan at the Turkish team, where he soon made a name for himself as one of the key players.
