President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has essentially given Ndigbo the Biafra they have long desired through inclusive governance and significant infrastructure development in the South East, according to Minister of Works Senator David Umahi. He claims that a vote for Tinubu in 2027 is also a vote for him and all of the South East governors.


The former governor of Ebonyi State declared in his New Year’s message that the most challenging time in Nigeria’s history was over and attributed the country’s renewed optimism to the Tinubu administration’s strong economic and infrastructure initiatives. 

He predicted that all economic sectors would undergo substantial change in the upcoming year. 

Umahi described President Tinubu as a comfort to Ndigbo after years of marginalization and neglect, and he urged the people of the South East to continue supporting him. He was confident that by supporting Tinubu in upcoming elections, the region would rectify what he described as the mistakes of the general elections of 2023. 

“Our people will never make the mistake of 2023 again. We shall remain resolute and stand strongly together behind Mr President in the 2027 election,” Umahi said. “Ndigbo will not be deceived again by marauding politicians with sugar-coated mouths.”
 

He insisted that the President had addressed what he described as the criminal marginalisation of the South East by previous administrations, adding that regional leaders would stand firmly with Tinubu if he contests again in 2027.
 

“One of our brothers is already saying he will be on the ballot in 2027, but I am telling Ndigbo that President Tinubu will be on the ballot. Once he is on the ballot, all the governors of the South East are on the ballot, and I, the Minister of Works, am also on the ballot,” he said.
 

Umahi maintained that the Biafra many Igbos fought and agitated for had been realised through national integration, inclusion and equal participation in governance.
 

“President Tinubu has reopened our chapter and is massively investing in our future. Indeed, the Biafra is here,” he said.
