On Monday, January 12, 2026, controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, was arraigned in the Federal High Court in Ota on several criminal charges, including assault, theft, and resisting arrest.

Ashabi Simple, his estranged partner, filed a complaint that led to the nine-count allegation.

Oluseyi Babaseyi, a spokesperson for Ogun State Police, claims that the musician assaulted Ashabi and a number of other people on New Year’s Day at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo.

Additionally, it is stated that Portable assaulted Ogungbe Olayemi, a female police inspector, while she was carrying out her professional responsibilities.

Ileyemi Damilola is named as a victim in the complaint as well. She claims that Portable stole her Mercedes-Benz E300, which she bought from Wally Dex Auto for ₦12 million.

Portable’s request for bail was turned down during the hearing. Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi’s absence from court was mentioned by the presiding judge, who maintained that her presence was required prior to any consideration of bail.

A new bail hearing is set for January 19, 2026, and Portable has been placed under remand in custody.

A separate enquiry on a widely circulated video purporting to show Portable being mistreated while in custody has been confirmed by Ogun State Police.
