“Helping your wife doesn’t make you a simp” — Man calls out Nigerian men

A man has sparked controversy on the internet by asserting that between 80 and 90 percent of men were not raised properly, citing this as the reason why many of them refuse to assist their partners with housework.

In an honest statement, he emphasised that helping a wife or girlfriend does not diminish a man’s masculinity or make him a “simp.”

If you were raised properly, you should know that helping your partner isn’t a problem and doesn’t make you less of a man,” he said, pointing out that most men’s mothers failed in teaching them responsibility and shared household duties.

In the house I was raised, although my mom didn’t force us to work, she would tell you: as I’m doing this thing, help me do that one. Chores aren’t just for women, they are for anyone who lives in the house.”

The speaker further emphasised that being a responsible adult includes supporting a relationship.

He clarified that if a female is preoccupied with household chores like cleaning or laundry, her spouse should take over right away, particularly if they live together.

He lambasted males who view domestic chores as beneath them and said that declining to assist is frequently a result of upbringing rather than personal desire.

His remarks swiftly gained widespread attention, provoking online discussions about gender norms, accountability, and appropriate parenting in Nigerian households.
