“Oga, she no lose anything” — Technician reveals ex mother rejected him, she married a politician instead

A Lagos technician recently told the story of his previous relationship and how societal perceptions of occupation and status influenced his personal life.

He said that his ex-girlfriend’s mother refused to marry him because he was viewed as “an ordinary technician,” despite his accomplishments and ethical parenting.

During a casual conversation with a client while working on an air conditioner, the technician stated how he has been providing for his two children by ensuring they attend a decent school and are well cared for.

The client encouraged him, pointing out that his ex’s family had missed out on a nice man.

The technician, however, delivered an unexpected twist: “Oga, she no lose anything o, I hear say na politician she marry.”

His remark demonstrated how family expectations and cultural standing can affect marriage decisions, sometimes prioritising cash and connections over personal compatibility and character.

Lessons in Love and Social Expectations The debate prompted reflections on the challenges many people encounter when selecting mates, specifically the conflict between social standards, profession, and true personal connection.

Many people believe that such stories shed light on the sometimes harsh realities of love and social hierarchy in contemporary Nigeria.
