A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) apparently fell victim to a fraud at Computer Village after being duped into buying what was advertised as an iPhone.
According to accounts, the unknowing corps member purchased the item from a seller in the crowded electronics market, only to realise later that the phone package contained fufu rather than the expected equipment.
The event prompted outrage online, with many Nigerians expressing alarm about the prevalence of fraud in popular electronics stores.
Others have utilised the occasion to warn purchasers to be cautious, especially when making large purchases from unfamiliar suppliers.
Computer Village, one of Nigeria’s main mobile device and accessory hubs, has long been criticised for fraudulent operations by some operators, despite continued attempts by government and market leaders to combat such activity.

Let’s talk about buying a phone, paying for it without opening or powering it up to check before leaving the shop. A graduate. A serving corper. If this can happen to such, i wonder how he graduated.”
