“Now you see how it feels to be persecuted”- Omoyele Sowore mocks former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami

Human rights activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore has stirred reactions after confronting former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, April 27.

In a video circulating on social media, Sowore was seen addressing Malami, suggesting that the former Minister of Justice was now experiencing the same kind of oppression he allegedly imposed on others during his time in office under the Buhari administration.

“You see how it feels now to be persecuted. When you were with Buhari at that time, you were bragging. We warned you then that there is failure in the justice system, but you didn’t listen, and now the system is dealing with you. There is failure in the system. The system is dealing with you now.”

Despite the criticism, Sowore acknowledged Malami’s composure, remarking that he was glad to see him remain strong.

“We are not all on the same side… even the oppressors are oppressing you now” he said.

He also emphasized that the challenges within Nigeria’s justice system affect both critics and former government officials, reiterating his stance on accountability and governance in the country.

“As far as the Nigeria project is concerned, no matter how powerful you people are, we will never support you. We are resilient till tomorrow,” he said.

Malami, who responded briefly during the exchange, maintained that he remained engaged with legal proceedings and can never be put down by anyone.

“I can never be down. Well, I have been attending all my court sittings. I will keep attending. And I remain strong,” he said.
