“Now that rice is ₦32,000 per bag, nobody is saying anything” — Lady

A Nigerian lady has generated outrage online after urging Nigerians to recognise the supposed decrease in the price of a bag of rice.

In a viral video uploaded on social media, a lady urged Nigerians to enjoy the progress of a bag of rice, which now costs around ₦32,000, rather than merely raising concerns when prices rise.

She contended that people should recognise beneficial improvements when they occur, just as they are eager to critique negative developments.

According to her, Nigerians should “try to appreciate the changes” so that those in charge realise that the public is aware of economic advancements.

She said, “It has dropped, 32,000 Naira for one bag of rice. When you see changes, try and appreciate.”

The lady further related the issue to the necessity of rewarding employees and children when they demonstrate progress.

She chastised traders for selling rice at around ₦40,000 despite reported price declines.

She stated that some sellers frequently rationalise the higher price by claiming they bought their shares before the market price decreased.

The lady asked Nigerians to recognise positive improvements while also speaking up when prices rise again.

Her words have sparked reactions online, with social media users expressing differing views on the current cost of rice and whether the published price matches what customers spend in various parts of Nigeria.
