After criticizing members of her church for what she called “unfair expectations,” a Nigerian nail technician caused controversy online.
The woman claims that none of the churchgoers helped her when she needed financial support and was having trouble learning how to fix nails.
Rather, her sister supported her and paid for her training until she was proficient.
Now that she is well-known, she disclosed that some churchgoers have come to her and asked to train eight girls for free. She called this request disrespectful and careless.
In her words, she said:
“When I was learning how to fix nails, no church member assisted me. No day did my mother go to church to say my daughter needs help. My sister did everything.”
Her post has since triggered reactions online. While many supported her stance, saying some churches often place unreasonable demands, others argued that helping through the church should be seen as service rather than business.
Reacting, one commentator wrote, “Na wa ooo, some churches get serious entitlement spirit.” Another added, “Training eight people for free? They no try at all. Make them pay.”
The lady maintained her position, stating that anyone interested in learning must pay ₦190,000 for three months and also provide their own tools.
