Alhaji Zainu Mada, an Islamic cleric in Gusau, Zamfara State, was k!.l.led by gunmen suspected of being b@πdits after they demanded N2 million in ransom.

Alhaji Zainu Mada, the victim, was reportedly k!.l.led a few days after being abducted by gunmen along the Kotorkoshi–Mada Road. 

Sahare reporters claim that the b@πdits also stole two cell phones and N70,000 worth of airtime from his family.

The incident was described as tragic and unacceptable by Abubakar Imam, the Chairman of Gusau Local Government Area.

Ibrahim Liman, a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who represents the Gusau II Constituency, accompanied the chairman on his visit to the family of the deceased cleric.

During the visit, he sympathised with the bereaved family and prayed for God’s forgiveness for the deceased, asking that he be granted Aljannah Firdaus.

His funeral prayer was conducted on Friday evening in his hometown, Mada, where hundreds of residents and sympathisers gathered to pay their last respects. 

Mada town has remained a hotspot of baπditry, with armed men repeatedly t£√√orising the area, reportedly due to its commercial activities. 

Several residents have lost their lives, while millions of naira have been paid as ransom over time.
