The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, E. A. Adeboye, has dismissed calls for Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to be removed from her position as an ordained minister in the church.
Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp, Pastor Adeboye addressed the controversy surrounding the First Lady’s dual role in religion and politics.
He stated that the church would not bow to public pressure or criticism demanding that Senator Oluremi Tinubu be stripped of her ministerial status because of her connection to the presidency.
According to him, the RCCG operates based on its spiritual doctrines and internal procedures rather than political sentiments or public opinion.
Pastor Adeboye further explained that Oluremi Tinubu became an ordained Assistant Pastor several years before her husband, Bola Tinubu, declared interest in contesting for the presidency.
He stressed that her ordination was not politically motivated and noted that she fulfilled all the necessary church requirements before attaining her current position within the ministry.
“Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an assistant pastor over 10 years ago, followed all the church processes of ordination, and hasn’t violated the chruch’s guidelines—so RCCG won’t remove her despite external pressure. The church isn’t APC.” Pastor Adeboye reportedly said, as quoted by Arise TV.
