A Nigerian lady has expressed frustration over the rising cost of electricity, claiming that the same ₦50,000 she previously used to purchase electricity now gives her significantly fewer units.

In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the woman compared the number of electricity units she received in May with what she reportedly received in September.

According to her, the difference has left her questioning the reason behind the sharp reduction despite spending the same amount of money.

She lamented:

“Nigerians don’t really know what’s happening in this country. I used to buy ₦50,000 worth of electricity around May and get 958.5 units. Now in this September, the same ₦50,000 is giving me just 222 units.

This is over a 400% increase. President Tinubu, what is happening? Nigerians, please go and get your Permanent Voter’s Cards. We need to vote out this government next year.”

The lady questioned why the amount of electricity units she receives has dropped significantly despite maintaining the same ₦50,000 spending.

Her complaint has attracted attention online, with Nigerians discussing electricity costs and the impact of higher tariffs on households.

The development has also renewed conversations around the rising cost of living and the financial pressure faced by many Nigerians.
