Iran’s state-run broadcaster IRIB reported that loud explosions were heard in western parts of the capital, adding that air defense systems were immediately activated in response to what officials described as incoming threats. In a separate development, air defense systems were also activated in the western Iranian city of Kermanshah, according to local media outlet Khabar Fouri, which reported the incident via its Telegram channel. Meanwhile, Israel’s public broadcaster KAN released footage it said showed an Israeli airstrike targeting military infrastructure in southern Tehran. The video was aired shortly after the Israeli military announced that its air force had concluded what it described as a “large-scale strike” against strategic defense systems belonging to the Iranian state.
The Israeli army stated that its warplanes had carried out coordinated attacks on key military assets, though it did not provide precise details regarding the locations or extent of damage inflicted during the operation. Independent verification of the claims has not been made available.
The latest exchange of attacks follows a sharp escalation that began on Sunday, when Israel conducted airstrikes on Beirut, despite an existing ceasefire agreement in Lebanon. The strikes triggered a chain of retaliatory actions, with Iran launching missiles toward northern Israel in response.
