According to a report by Channels Television on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Senator Seriake Dickson, has officially unveiled former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections during a special convention held in Abuja.

Obi emerged as the party’s flag bearer after a consensus adoption process that concluded the convention on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

The announcement was followed by the formal presentation of the party’s flag to him as preparations intensify ahead of the next general election cycle.

At the same event, Obi announced former Kano State Governor and former Minister of Defence, Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate.
