“My sisters-in-law would take big sizes of meat and leave me with little or none” – Nigerian woman who got married to a breadwinner at 18 shares her experience

My sisters-in-law would take big sizes of meat and leave me with little or none - Nigerian woman who got married to a breadwinner at 18 shares her experience

Anabel Oluebube, a Nigerian woman who married at the age of 18, has counseled young girls to become emotionally and financially independent before getting married.

In response to a post by Okafor Oluchukwu, a Nigerian woman, who described how her sister-in-law used to flog her during their early marriage, she offered the advice.

Anabel talked about her experience as an 18-year-old wife. She said that her husband was the family’s primary provider and that his sisters constantly reminded her that she had nothing when she joined them.

Anabel claims that she was not permitted to prepare a separate meal for herself or to share food after cooking.

“You people should stop doubting that lady that said that her sis in-law was flogging her when she newly got married. My own experience as a 18 year old girl that got married to an extended family’s breadwinner was almost the same! This is why you will always see me condemn early marriage,” she wrote.

I remember when my husband will give me money to cook for the whole family and my sis in-laws will tell me that they are the one to share the food when I’m done cooking. They will take the big sizes of meat and leave me with little or none!

I dare not cook a separate meal for myself cox every meal must be for the family and that’s where I MUST eat from, if I complain they will as me how much I came with from Ọzụbụlụ to Ihiala when I married their brother.

Even after my first child, it continued that made me fight with one of them and I nearly comot her front teeth!

They literally swore that I won’t enjoy my marriage then oooo!

Thank God for growth and where I am now…e remain for them to address me as “her excellency ma” because it’s no longer the Anabel they use to know!!

And they dare not try it again cox my first son fit handle all of them for me.

I have forgiven them but I made sure that the boundaries I set are still there!

Getting married to a man because he is a good man is not enough! What about his family?

Be up to 23 and financially independent before you marry any Adam please.
