“My husband locked my shop because I said I don’t want to be a Muslim again” – Woman cries out

A woman has caused reactions online after claiming her husband shut down her business after she told him she no longer wanted to practice Islam.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she said she was raised in a Christian home and was not informed at the start of the relationship that she would be expected to change her religion later.

She explained that her husband initially told her she was free to remain a Christian and that he had no problem with her faith.

However, she alleged that he later changed his stance and insisted she convert to Islam.

She said she later became uncomfortable with the arrangement and decided she no longer wanted to continue practicing Islam.

According to her, this decision created tension in the marriage and eventually led to her husband locking up her shop.

The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, with users debating issues around religion, marriage, and personal choice.

“My husband locked my shop and collected all my source of income because I said I don’t want to be a Muslim again. I grew up in a Christian family, and he didn’t tell me at the beginning that I must follow his religion,” she said while expressing herself in Yoruba.

“He told me to be doing my doctrine as a Christian, and he doesn’t have any issue with it. On one particular day, he stood firmly and said I must follow his religion and I accepted, although we had issues with it at first, but my family intervened and said a wife must practise her husband’s religion,” she added.
