After making a direct statement about why many men prefer so-called “independent women” in relationships, a Nigerian woman caused a stir on social media.

She made the case that the attraction is frequently more about financial convenience than admiration in a widely shared video on X (formerly Twitter) by @Teniola.

She claims that because it makes borrowing easier, many men prefer to date women who are self-sufficient.

In her words, she said:
